Why do a lot of the Bible-bashing websites complain about the vulgar language in the Old Testament?

It is usually christians that write hysterical letters to TV companies if someone says the word 'bottom' when children might hear it. Then they insist their children read a book full of god sanctioned murder, baby bashing, and vulgarity.
