How can I get cell phone providers to have better coverage in my area?

unfortunately there is not a lot that you can do about this......i had the same problem........we had nextel thru my work (we have 13 phones on the plan) and we could never get service if we were at home (at my mom's house) or inside of our office building (25 miles apart mind you)......so we always had to go outside and do that "cell phone dance".....you know, the one where you hold the phone out with one hand while walking around looking for service bars......so we switched to at&t (which of course, i did not want to do).....now everyone gets great service (even in our office building) except for me and i live 1 mile from work.....so i called at&t and they said that what happens is when your phone switches from 1 tower to another tower those towers have to basically "shake hands" to do the switch and that my towers were failing to do so.......theres pretty much nothing that can be done about this according to customer service....what i would like to know is how does their failure have to become MY problem?
