I have some bathroom rugs that need disinfection. Would washing them by hand with vinegar disinfect them?

I've heard that using vinegar will help, but also that sprinkling baking soda on them and then vacuuming will help. Which is the more effective disinfectant? Is there a better way to disinfect bathroom rugs than this?
