Might people have been paid to speak ill of Alfredo Reinado (East Timor)?

For the same reason that I didn't I imagine, humiliation, fear, repercussions, all of which I know as I'm dealing with it right now. The only difference is I wasn't paid to keep quiet, I did it for other reasons :)
